Instructor: Connie Horne
Connie started quilting in 2000 when her oldest son asked her to make him a quilt. She began to take quilting classes at her local quilt shop and now really loves working on wearable art and art quilts. She has a busy teaching schedule and loves the sharing and learning that happens in the classroom. Connie’s quilts have been featured in Cindy Walter’s Snippet Sensations and Christmas Snippets books. Her classes teaching the techniques in these books are always popular. Currently, Connie’s quilt, “Fiber of Slavery”, is in a traveling exhibition held in honor of the 20th anniversary of the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center in historic Wilberforce University and is featured in curator Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi’s new book Quilting African American Women’s History. Connie has won several ribbons in local quilt shows as well as a 2nd place ribbon for her African Village Ensemble at the Pacific International Quilt Show in 2007.

Instructor: Janis Arredondo
Janis Arredondo was born in England and migrated to California as a child. She learned to sew in her early teens and found that she could have more clothes if she made them herself, making garments ranging from everyday wear to tailored suits. She also designed and created her daughter’s wedding dress. Originally an art student, Janis loves to create art inspired pieces. When her children were young she supplemented her income creating and selling fiber art wall hangings. She made her first quilt 25 years ago but took it up seriously in the last six years. Two years ago she retired from her managerial job with the State of California and started teaching classes. Janis loves teaching and is eager to create and design more fun projects for her students in future classes.

Instructor: Kathy Tow
Kathy Tow teaches the Husqvarna Viking classes at the Folsom and Sacramento locations of Meissner Sewing and Learning Centers. Sewing has been a life-long love and a way to relax from the stresses of working as an RN. After 26 years in OB, Kathy left nursing and found an opportunity to teach beginning sewing to teen-agers—hoping to instill the love of sewing and creating in another generation. In order to improve her teaching skills, she attended the Home Sewing Association’s Trained Sewing Educator program and received her certificate of completion. While working at Meissner’s, Kathy was sent for extensive training in Westlake, Ohio to learn the entire line of Husqvarna Viking machines and the software used with the embroidery machines. She has attended Husqvarna Viking dealer conventions in Las Vegas and Nashville and the fall SewFests in Reno and Las Vegas, learning the latest products and techniques to bring back to Meissner customers and keep the excitement growing. If you have any questions about any of the Husqvarna Viking machines or software Kathy is the person to see.
