Adult Basic Sewing
Acquire new skills while refining the ones you learned in Before You Sit and Sew. Over the course of six classes you will construct a simple garment as you learn new sewing techniques. This series will include lecture/demonstration and a lab for individual assistance. Pre-requisite: Before You Sit and Sew for the absolute beginner. Patterns will be provided for beginning sewists, while the intermediate sewer may select his or her own projects.

Marilyn Stanley is a certified Family and Consumer Scientist with a Masters in Education who teaches in the Fashion Program at Sacramento City College and numerous Adult Education classes in the Sacramento area. Her vast background in clothing, textiles, and fashion contribute to her precise approach toward personal garment fitting and construction. As a Certified Palmer/Pletsch Instructor in Fit, Pant Fit, and Tailoring, she has been one of Sacramento's most popular and in-demand educators for leading workshops in fitting solutions and serging techniques. She originated the first Sewing club in the Sacramento area in 1984 with a monthly serger club meeting at the Yardage Shop on Arden Way. She began teaching the "Know Your Serger" classes in 1989 for Meissner's Sewing and Learning Center.
