Course level: Beginner/Intermediate
Instructor: Elaine Buchanan & Vicki Ayres ($20)
Elaine Buchanan began sewing at age 12. Her mother was an accomplished seamstress who inspired Elaine to follow her example. She started with McCall's "Winnie the Pooh" stuffed animals pattern, revisiting it for many years, even while branching out into garments, quilts and other crafts. She earned a degree in Art Education from the University of Washington in Seattle. As a mother, she continued sewing clothing, toys and dolls for her children, their friends and many local craft boutiques. In 2008, she began working for Meissner’s in Folsom, where she taught adult sewing and quilting. When the FitNice program came to Sacramento in 2014, she saw happy participants and knew that she could fill their need. So she became a certified FitNice Instructor. She is excited to share this simple and versatile program with others, and she is eager to help them to enjoy creating fabulous and fun garments.
