Kristin Echols

Kristin Echols is a member of the Elk Grove Quilt Guild and has been quilting for 10 years. She took up quilting when her best friend was expecting her first child. Wanting to memorialize their 25-year friendship, Kristin used fabric from her maid-of-honor dress in the baby quilt. Many books and classes later, she has mastered the art of fabric selection and matching points. After making numerous block-of-the-month quilts, she adapted the reversible, or "quilt-as-you-go," technique to complete her quilts quickly and easily. She shares these techniques, allowing students to quilt one block at a time instead of wrestling with a large quilt under a home machine. Kristin's 2006 block of the month received an award at the California State Fair.
