Tired of paying someone to shorten or lengthen your clothes? Learn to do it yourself! This hands-on class teaches you how to handle basic hemming jobs from jeans, skirts, pants, knits, etc. Bring your sewing machine and hemming problems and we’ll find solutions. Samples using various techniques and fabrics will be sewn in class. Fabric and handouts will be provided.

Marilyn Stanley is a certified Family and Consumer Scientist with a Masters in Education who teaches in the Fashion Program at Sacramento City College and numerous Adult Education classes in the Sacramento area. Her vast background in clothing, textiles, and fashion contribute to her precise approach toward personal garment fitting and construction. As a Certified Palmer/Pletsch Instructor in Fit, Pant Fit, and Tailoring, she has been one of Sacramento's most popular and in-demand educators for leading workshops in fitting solutions and serging techniques. She originated the first Sewing club in the Sacramento area in 1984 with a monthly serger club meeting at the Yardage Shop on Arden Way. She began teaching the "Know Your Serger" classes in 1989 for Meissner's Sewing and Learning Center.
