Catching up with Jenny K. Lyon

Sara Curtis

Meissner Sewing & Vacuum Centers prides itself in bringing top educators and experts to our stores to provide our customers with the tools, techniques and inspiration to continue their creative journey in all forms of fiber and textile arts. This week, we are featuring longtime Meissner Quilting Instructor, Jenny K. Lyon who has some exciting announcements we would like to share with our fellow Makers!

Jenny is a featured contributor in the October/November 2017 issue of Quilting Arts Magazine.

Jenny is featured in the October issue of Quilting Arts Magazine! Her article titled "Bubbles 8 Ways" is about creative machine quilting. "I can’t wait to see it on the news stand," an enthusiastic Jenny mentioned in a recent blog post on quiltskippper.com.  "It was fun to work with Quilting Arts-they were so helpful and made it an enjoyable experience. I hope I work with them again. I have so many ideas in my head for more articles. I just need a little time–hah!"

One of the reasons that Jenny has been so busy, is that in addition to her teaching schedule, writing featured articles and keeping up with her own creativity, she has been writing her first book! Details  about the book and when it will be available haven't yet be announced, but we will update this blog as details become available.

You can also catch Jenny in select Quilting Arts DVDs.  The Quilting Arts Series 2000 DVD features Jenny in a segment called Cut It Out. In this segment, creative use of negative space adds impact to art and quilts. Quilter and maker of wearable art, Jenny Lyon channels her garment background to create a high-fashion cutwork scarf. Fiber artist Lisa Walton makes an original art quilt using fused fabrics and free-hand cutting techniques.  A new Quilting Arts Series 2100 DVD will be available in January 2018 and feature two segements by Jenny, Bubbles 8 Ways and 10 Top Tips for Successful Free-Motion Quilting.
