Long-arm Center Staff
Tonja McCarthy - Long-arm Center Manager
Tonja has been employed with Meissner’s for a total of 16 years and has held various positions with the company. When Meissner decided to start carrying long-arm machines she was recruited to head up that division for the company. Tonja has been sewing since she was 5 years old, has a degree in Fashion Design, and has won many awards with her wearable art garments. Although, quilting is not on the top of her usual sewing things to do she has developed quite a love for finishing quilts on the Gammill Statler Stitcher. Tonja is a certified long-arm instructor, is one of the Rental Certification instructors and Gammill new owner trainers.
Karl Berky - Gammill Certified Sales and Support
Karl started his own embroidery production business in 1991. It wasn’t until 1998 that he joined Commercial Embroidery Systems, a division of Meissner Sewing, as the Service Manager. In 2010, Karl became General Manager of CES. Three years later, Karl began working in Meissner’s Long-arm Department assisting with Gammill sales, support, and service. He offers 7-day a week phone support for his customers and is certified in Embroidery, Direct Garment Printing, and Laser Engraving.
Angelina McKenna - Long-arm Instructor
Angelina McKenna is known as the "rebel quilter". After learning to sew on her grandmother's Kenmore as a child, she made her first quilt at 19. Angelina is a member of the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild and was featured on week #17 at 52quilters.com. She has also had a quilt shown the November issue of Make Modern magazine. You can often find her doodling on paper or practicing free-motion quilting on one of our long-arm quilting machines. Her motto as a sewist is " Your quilt, your rules" and she encourages other sewists and quilters to embrace their creativity, find their own style, and follow their own set of rules.
Kelly Berky - Renter Liason
Kelly has been in the embroidery field since 1995 and has been with Meissner Sewing since 2014. She has two positions within Meissner’s; Kelly assists the Long-arm renters and she and her husband, Karl, both work within Commercial Embroidery Systems, a division of Meissner Sewing. “I love seeing our customers compete their quilts and share quilting tips with each other. Who knows, maybe I will get my first quilt finally quilted!”
