Meissner Sewing and the River City Quilters Guild of Sacramento are joining forces with RARE Science, Inc, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help find cures for children with rare diseases. We will be sponsoring workshops once a month in Sacramento, where participants can make a RARE Bear for donation to the RARE Bear Project. The focus of the workshop is to make the “bear skin.” The RARE Bear Project has volunteers who will stuff the bears and embroider the faces. Each RARE Bears is assigned a serial number, which is attached to the bear at the time it is created. So that the bear’s maker can receive a photo of the child with his or her bear. The completed bear skins will be sent to the RARE Bears Project and the children.

This workshop is perfect for using up your scraps! Cotton fabrics only (NO flannels or fleece due to child allergies) that are 8" x 10" or larger. See the supply list in the tabs below for other supplies needed. If you don't have enough scraps, but still wan't to make a bear skin - no problem! We will provide the fabric and pattren for your first RARE Bear (to be donated).

You can make donations to RARE Science, Inc. at: http://www.rarescience.org/donate
